Neuropathy Care in Anacortes

Board certified neuropathy care for the burning, numbness, and tingling that will not let up.

The First Line of Defense

It Starts With What You Eat

The first line of defense against many diseases, including peripheral neuropathy, is good nutrition. No matter the severity of the neuropathy, eating a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, healthy fats, and lean protein is the best option.

We provide the guidelines for a simple anti-inflammatory, neuropathy-supportive diet. You receive a specific meal plan, a food list, and healthy tips, along with a food diary, so you are aware of what you are eating and can be sure you are getting the nutrients you need each day to stay as healthy as possible.

The Second Defense

The Neuropathy Support Kit

We take a unique approach to supplemental neuropathy support, using a powder, a cream, and a herbal tincture together.

The nutraceutical powdered complex supports nitric oxide production within the bloodstream, which supports healthy circulation, helps remove ammonia and lactate to reduce fatigue, protects against tissue oxidation, supports immune health, and provides antioxidant protection. It works alongside an easy-mixing phytonutrient powder made from certified organic whole food plant extracts, supplying natural vitamins, ionic trace minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, phytonutrients, and symbiotic intestinal flora for energy, metabolism, digestion, detoxification, and longevity support.

The herbal tincture is an ecologically harvested compounding formula containing Boswellia serrata, yucca root, and devil's claw root, among others, which support anti-inflammatory properties. The herbs come directly from their region of origin and are processed at six pounds of dried herbs per gallon, using an extraction method that releases the nutrients, volatile oils, and esters for a pure, balanced product. Alongside these we use a topical cream formula with a good source of L-arginine, to support neuropathic pain, circulation, and overall comfort.

The Third Defense

Infrared Light Therapy

Our infrared light technology is recommended for poor circulation and for pain in the feet and legs, including for people with diabetes. The device is used to increase circulation and reduce pain, stiffness, and muscle spasm.

The therapy system behind the Freedom 300 Pro was the first infrared light therapy product cleared by the FDA, in 1994, and it remains a leading evidence-based light therapy product today. The Freedom 300 uses only infrared light-emitting diodes, because infrared light penetrates more deeply into the body than red or blue light. We cannot see infrared, but the body responds to it with increased circulation and reduced pain.

Digital Electro-Therapeutic Stimulation

We also use state of the art digital electro therapeutic stimulation to assist in the growth of the nerves, called Nerve Re-Education. This is used by the Cancer Centers of America in order to help those going through chemotherapy to rebuild the nerves.

Nerve Re-Education can now be done at home, so therapy can be done daily. In a recent peer-reviewed study of 551 patients, 94% eliminated their pain symptoms. They regained their mobility with their first treatment.

How We Treat It

Your Path to Relief

Dr. Johnsen is Board Certified in Neuropathy, and this is care she has built a large part of her practice around. We start by working out what is actually irritating or starving the nerve, whether that is compression in the spine, poor circulation, or a metabolic cause, then build a plan aimed at the nerve itself rather than just the sensation.

Here is what it is like to feel your feet again, and to sleep through the night:

"I have been seeing Dr. Johnsen for a couple of years for help managing my neuropathy. She is very knowledgeable and has provided supplemental help and other therapies to give relief with this debilitating condition. It is a pleasure to work with Dr. Johnsen."Lynda J., Verified Patient
