Scoliosis specific exercises, an evidence-based approach built for the scoliosis curve rather than for general fitness.
Scoliosis specific exercises, usually abbreviated SSE, are programs designed specifically to address a scoliosis curve. Dr. Johnsen works from SEAS, the Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis, an evidence-based method within that category. This is not general exercise. Standard activity such as swimming or yoga does not prevent, correct, or halt the progression of scoliosis on its own. Scoliosis specific programs work differently, training your body out of its curve pattern through active self-correction, and they have been shown to be very effective in certain cases.
SEAS is used here alongside ScoliBrace protocols and Chiropractic BioPhysics. Your program is built from your own measurements and your particular curve pattern, then reviewed and progressed as those measurements change. When scoliosis specific exercise is used alongside bracing, it improves the results of hard bracing, which is why the two so often run together here rather than as alternatives.

SEAS is not a house method. It is a published, peer-reviewed approach, and the paper below is the one that sets out how and why it works. If you want to read what your care is built on, start here.
